Frankincense resin is commonly obtained by slashing the Boswellia tree with deep incisions, and then immediately collecting its sap. What makes Frankincense Neglecta so unique is the fact that the sap is collected through natural means. The Boswellia neglecta tree is allowed to naturally ooze its resin which gives it time to deepen its color, and enrichen its scent. Aromatically, Frankincense neglecta's naturally dark color is freshened with sweet incense notes over a pronounced balsamic and piney base. It is similar to Frankincense frereana with heavier base notes and sweeter top notes. Our Frankincense neglecta is cultivated in Kenya, although it is also grown in Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Frankincense neglecta essential oil is quite calming and grounding. It has been shown to relax the mind, promote self-confidence, and regain focus. As with other types of Frankincense, neglecta is used in aromatherapy for wounds and abrasions. Some sources indicate it’s also beneficial for bronchial conditions including asthma.
Frankincense neglecta is excellent for dry and mature skin types due to its superb anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties, and also acts as a natural astringent to tighten and tone the epidermis.
