Rhododendron essential oil is aromatically divine, distilled from flowers and leaves of Rhododendron anthropogon grown in the Himalayas of Nepal. This essential oil has an exotic floral aroma with lingering sweet fruity notes. When initially sampling this oil it was love at first whiff!
An interesting spiritual fact is that the dried leaves of Rhododendron anthopogon are crushed by Buddhist monks, mixed with ghee, and made into sacred incense for their monasteries and others throughout SE Asia. I fondly recall visiting a monastery in Laos a few years back having the most wondrous and unique aroma coming from large urns of burning incense. That aroma has remained forefront in my mind, and one I dare say closely resembles this essential oil.
This is a wonderful calming oil for meditation or chanting to help make spiritual connections by opening the mind and heart to a free flow of positive energy through its grounding, calming, and centering properties.
Rhododendron anthopogon has also received recognition in medical research with some rather amazing results. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Padova, Italy
documented"a significant killing effect against some Gram-positive reference strains: Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcusfecalis, Bacillus subtilis was measured; Mycobacterium tuberculosis reference strain and a clinical isolate of Candida, C. pseudotropicalis were killed by as low as 0.04% (v/v) essential oil. Moreover, the oil was able to reduce cancer cell growth independently of the cell line and the treatment protocols used."
