Rich and tenacious, this Osmanthus Absolute bursts with luscious sweet ripe apricot and pear notes…as my French perfume mentor in Eze relates “C'est magnifique”! Without doubt the most tenacious and sensual Osmanthus Absolute smelled in a long time. There’s nothing fleeting about its aroma, a couple drops in odorless Fractionated Coconut Oil applied on top of the hand and 8 hours later it still brings a naughty smile. Yes, it’s expensive, but the best usually is!
This Osmanthus absolute beckons attention in upscale perfume creations although it can stand all on its own as a single note perfume. Osmanthus blends well with Sandalwood…like a match made in heaven! Try blending with a few drops of our Sandalwood Mysore; these two meld together exquisitely producing an elegant sweet floral-fruity, peachy-apricot, creamy and heady, voluptuous aroma not soon forgotten.
The Osmanthus flowers in this absolute were grown in China and hexane free extracted in Grasse, France. This hexane free extracted Osmanthus absolute is without solvent residue making it well suited for aromatherapy use.
Osmanthus comes from a tree native to southern China and cultivated for its flowers whose apricot-like fragrance is traditionally used to scent tea. In Guangxi, local farmers beat the trees in September and October to gather the innumerable small flowers that range in color from pale honey yellow to bright orange.
The Chinese have been developing the extraction of Osmanthus blossoms since the 1960's, all by solvent extraction. The annual production in China totals about 1 ton of concrete. After extraction about one tenth of that becomes available worldwide as a solvent extracted absolute, with far less available as hexane free extracted. This is a beautiful absolute by artisan hexane free extraction performed in the perfume capital of the world, Grasse, France.
Osmanthus is a strong mental stimulator sending signals of pleasure and happiness to the brain. This makes it a much sought after oil for use in fine and natural perfumes.
The aromatherapy properties of Osmanthus fragrans are both soothing and comforting, lending to its use in essential oil blends for pain relief, meditation and yoga.
