Many sources say Yarrow hydrosol does not have a pleasant aroma. After smelling many specimens that's a fairly accurate, albeit subjective, depiction. A sample from our new found artisan distiller in the Pacific Northwest left us with...WOW, we had to have it! Sweet, ever so lightly floral, with an underlying berry-like aroma that teeters on a combination of strawberry and blueberry. The noses at LGB find this Yarrow hydrosol far from having an unpleasant aroma. Regardless, the therapeutic benefits far outweigh where it falls on an aroma scale. After all, smell (good or bad) is personal interpretation.
Suzanne Catty writes that Yarrow Hydrosol is effective with varicose veins when used in a compress. She also mentions its effectiveness with all sorts of skin itching and is a first choice for conditions of eczema and psoriasis.
The combination of antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties make Yarrow Hydrosol a good choice for acne and problem skin complexions.
