A quest to find high quality Vetiver essential oil with sweet woody smoky notes led to a small distiller in Java who ethically farms and produced this exquisite oil from non-GMO roots of the perennial growing grass Vetiveria zizanioides (also called zizanoides).
This essential oil is correctly referred to by either Vetiver or Vetivert. Not long ago Vetiver was reclassified from the genus Vetiveria zizanioides to Chrysopogon zizanioides, both in the botanical family Poaceae. Vetiveria zizanioides remains in use as a synonym and the one we choose to list considering the non-GMO roots this essential oil is derived from and the botanical name provided us by the grower and distiller.
Vetiver essential oil is a must have addition for meditation and relaxation therapy blends. In natural perfume this beautiful oil brings a delicate sweet, rich smoky, earthy combination together in perfect harmonious unison with a bit of woodsy notes. The paraphrase less is more is very true as it can quickly dominate a blend if not used in small amounts. Vetiver can be used singularly or blended with Black Pepper, Lavender Neroli or Patchouli for a hauntingly sensuous masculine fragrance or with Jasmine, Rose Otto or Geranium for feminism at its finest.
Above ground Vetiver is a grass growing plant with a massive root structure below. The longer it grows, the more prolific the root structure becomes for distilling natural essential oil from them. Vetiver plants are also an ecological solution for soil erosion because of its massive root growth. After harvesting the roots our distiller uses the grass as fodder for cattle and horses on his farm. Nothing is wasted and replanting continues on a continual rotation basis.
Aside from the beautiful aromatic qualities of Vetiver this essential oil is also beneficial in aromatherapy for skin care, muscular pains, relieving depression, stress, and insomnia.
