Lemon Thyme essential oil is often mistakenly called Thyme ct citral with botanical reference to Thymus vulgaris ct citral. Recent DNA analysis suggests that it is not a hybrid or cross, but a separate species of Thymus
as was first claimed in 1811. At Lotus Garden Botanicals we believe accurate identification of raw botanical material paramount. The confusion of Lemon Thyme is likely due to the Citral (lemon) aroma that results from two terpenoids, geranial and neral. Citral references: Jeanne Rose
and Wiki article Citral
. Citral is considered antiviral. Our Lemon Thyme contains over 75% (Geranial+ Neral)
