Rose centifolia, known as Rose Morocco, Rose Moroc or Rose Maroc, has a deep, rich, rosy-spicy, honey-like aroma and is a tender, uplifting, soothing oil. This Rose Moroc Absolute is organic grown and obtained by hexane free solvent extraction and our Rose Bulgarian Absolute from Rosa damascena is conventional solvent extracted. Rosa centifolia (also known as the Provence rose, cabbage rose or rose of a hundred petals) and Rosa damascena are the two main species of rose used in the production of rose pure essential oil. Rosa centifolia is mostly cultivated in Egypt, Morocco and France for its singular fragrance that is clear and sweet with light notes of honey.
The solvent extraction method involves agitating the rose petals in a hexane free solvent. This isolates the aromatic compounds as well as pigments and wax. The extracts then undergo vacuum processing to remove the hexane free solvent, leaving a wax-like material known as the ‘concrete’. This is mixed with alcohol to dissolve the aromatic compounds, leaving behind the wax and other substances. The final stage of production uses low-pressure evaporation to remove the alcohol which yields the final Rose Absolute.
Due to the low temperatures used in the extraction process (compared to steam distillation), the aroma of Rose Absolute tends to be closer to the true scent of fresh rose than Rose Otto
Rose, whether pure essential oil or absolute oil, commands a high price as the extraction process requires up to several thousand pounds of rose petals to obtain a single ounce of oil. The production process is also very labor-intensive, with harvesting of the flowers done by hand before sunrise and processing completed on the same day.
Although it is costly, Rose centifolia is one of the best all-purpose pure essential oils for your collection. This is a tender, uplifting and soothing oil that helps fight depression, grief, anger and fear, and is also used as a tonic for the heart and digestive system. Other reputed benefits of Rose Moroc include relieving depression, sedative, anxiety, calming, laxative, aphrodisiac, nervous tension, increases semen count, cooling, liver, stomach, blood purifier, and spiritual love.
