Our Opoponax essential oil resonates with a sweet earthy depth of character.  Also called Sweet Myrrh, resin from Commiphora guidotti wild collected and steam distilled in Kenya is the foundation for this excellent quality Opoponax.

Aromatherapy use of Opoponax is limited with Myrhh, another member of the Commiphora genus, better suited for aroma-therapeutics.  Opoponax is noted by some sources to have a drying effect in the respiratory system and for this reason it is seen as a beneficial expectorant.

This oil is highlighted by aromatic notes ranging from balsamic and resinous to sweet, earthy and fruity.  In natural perfume Opoponax, imparts sweet resinous balsamic notes in Chypre, Fougere, Oriental, Forest, Leather and Floral accords.
