This absolute from Accacia decurrens fresh flowers is traditional Mimosa Absolute that is solid and requires warming to liquefy.  The aroma is soft, powdery, floral, and sweet with a honeyed fresh cut grass undertone that later reveals a beautiful violet-like heart note.

There are several species in the botanical family Acacia that produce fragrant flowers. Just two species, Acacia decurrens and A. farnesiana, have uses in perfumery.   A. decurrens is appropriately referred to as Mimosa and A. farnesiana as Cassie syn. Sweet Cassie, and not to be confused with Cassia

Acclaimed perfume expert Elena Vosnaki describes Mimosa as "a cloud of sugar-spun innocence...that figures highly in recreations of the elusive note of lilac in perfumery and of lily of the valley fragrances".

Top perfume houses and their perfumers have used Mimosa with its resemblance to heliotrope in noteworthy examples of: Chanel (Chanel No.5), Creed (Aubepine), Givenchy (Amarige), Hermès (Calèche Fleurs de Méditerranée), Molinard (Les Fleurs), Shiseido (Zen), and Fragonard (Fragonard).

Mimosa excels in perfumery as a fixative to bring harmony among other blended aromas.  Jeanne Rose indicates the aromatherapy benefits of Mimosa absolute are of a relaxing nature for nervous tension and anxiety.  She also mentions use for sensitive or oily skin and skin problems caused by stress.

Aromatherapy use:  anxiety, nervous tension, stress
