Our Green Mandarin essential oil contains a high percent of limonene (79.41%) that provides antibacterial, antiviral and expectorant qualities. With regard to phototoxicity, there appears to be confusion among several varieties of 'Green Mandarin' with some sources indicating yes and others no. Our most trusted source, Robert Tisserand (Essential Oil Safety), indicates Mandarin 'leaf' essential oil (Citrus reticulata blanco) is phototoxic and the oil cold pressed from the 'peel' is not. We found no delineation of information between Green, Yellow and Red Mandarin. NAHA also indicates 'Mandarin' is not phototoxic, as does Aromahead Institute and Aromaweb.
