Located in the Al Mughsail area in Salalah, Oman, grows wild Boswellia Sacra trees on cliffs and rocky beachfront areas overlooking the ocean. Frankincense Black Sacra essential oil comes from these trees, which is unique because usually Boswellia trees only proliferate in sandy, dry, and desert climates. Even more rare, is that our Frankincense Black Sacra grows among other flowering plants, such as Omani lavender, which may be responsible for Frankincense Black’s sweet resinous floral aroma — one theory of why it’s considered to be the most floral and aromatically feminine of all of the Frankincense oils. Because of its close proximity to sea water, Frankincense Black's color is related to the humidity and monsoon conditions that it bares for 3 months to survive. Our ultra-superior quality Frankincense Black Sacra essential oil is distilled only from fresh resin, where timing is of the essence in a very short cultivation period. First, the outer bark of ocean-front Boswellia trees are incised, and allowed to bleed out in “tears”. This 4-week process only has a 6-8 week harvest period, as it must be completed before monsoon season. It is then quickly gathered, sorted, and properly stored. Finally, the fresh resin is artisanally processed through hydro-distillation –– in order to retain its precious composition and aromatic integrity. The end result is a premium Frankincense Black Sacra essential oil that is sweetly warm and ethereal, with remarkably tenacious complexity, equally composed of citrus, floral, and resinous notes.
Frankincense Black's florally sweet aroma is a prime example of companion planting. This naturally occurring process enhances the olfactory notes of Frankincense with the aromatic essences of its neighboring flowers and plants — such as the aforementioned lavender.
