The black Boswellia sacra resin is darker than traditional more well known Boswellia sacra tears harvested in arid areas of Oman. Traditional sacra resin harvested from arid areas in Oman range in color from white to light gold to light green. The black hojari Frankincense resin distilled for this hydrosol is dark amber, rust, to black. These colors are brought about from trees located in the high humidity region of Magseel, known locally as Al Magsail, Salalah, to denote the unique area of harvest on the Arabian Ocean. It is the high humidity that infuses moisture into the resin to give these special resin tears the distinct dark colors and resulting distilled ethereal aroma. The distiller relates that this unique black hojari sacra resin must be allowed to age on the tree naturally before being harvested as the first crucial step in this unique hydrosol, followed by the resin resting in the distillation apparatus covered in water for several days before actual distillation begins. This precious hydrosol is then collected first before continuing distillation at varying temps for an almost equally astonishing essential oil. Because batches are small, we hope to source the essential oil from this distiller in the future. The aroma of this hydrosol is lovingly captured through artisan techniques for a truly special aromatic depth similar to traditional Frankincense sacra essential oil
albeit the hydrosol has a smooth exquisite aroma that delivers an ethereal sensory experience from having captured the full gamut of sacra notes from resinous to woody to balsamic to lightly citrus and slightly floral.
This special and rare Frankincense Black Omani hydrosol artfully distilled in a unique glass alembic still expresses a true, clear, crisp, vibrant aroma that is simply not found in traditional copper distillations. Glass distillation of aged black hojari sacra resin has resulted in a breathtakingly aromatic hydrosol with great emotional depth. We are extremely impressed with the quality and in keeping with our philosophy of offering the very best we could not pass up the opportunity to make this Frankincense Black hydrosol available for your enjoyment.
Shelf life of is generally 24 months or longer when properly stored in the refrigerator. This Black Omani Frankincense Hydrosol does not contain preservatives.
