NEW! Clary Sage essential oil with high sclareol content from USA organic grown and hydrodistilled Salvia sclarea flower tops. At Lotus Garden Botanicals we have two types of Clary Sage, this one from USA and
Clary Sage from France. While both are prominent in linalool and linalyl acetate this Clary Sage from USA contains
2.56% sclareol and our Clary Sage from France with 0.94%.
Sclareol is claimed to benefit amenorrhea, PMS, and menopause symptoms. Clary Sage has always been referred to as THE essential oil for women. However, more interesting is the possible anticancer benefit of sclareol. In an
article written by Robert Tisserand about estrogenic effects of Clary Sage he states
"Sclareol does have an interesting anticancer activity, including in vitro action against human breast cancer MCF-7 cells (Dimas et al 2006). An isomer, 13-epi-sclareol, which is also present in clary sage oil, inhibits the growth of breast and uterine cancers in vitro, and was slightly more potent than Tamoxifen, but was not toxic to normal cells (Sashidhara et al 2007). This suggests the possibility that sclareol might actually inhibit estrogen, and might after all have some capacity to interact with estrogen receptor sites."
Clary Sage is claimed to induce a sense of well being and aid with relief from depression. For use during meditation, relaxation or stress reduction see our Clary Sage (France). Clary Sage essential oil high in sclareol is said to reduce hot flashes, night sweats, PMS and benefit female functions in general.
