Aromatherapy use of Cassia Co2 because of its stimulating and uplifting spicy aroma is said to combat depression when diffused. This is a strong oil that commands respect; we recommend diffusing just a couple drops because it is a mucous membrane irritant. This is an oil where less really is more! As with all leaf and bark oils from Cinnamomum varieties, Cassia, Co2 is a dermal and mucous membrane irritant that Robert Tisserand recommends a maximum of 0.01% in any formula for skin application.
Because Cassia Co2 is not recommended for skin use unless highly diluted its strong aroma is however marvelous for scenting potpourri and candles. We tried adding 5 drops to 1/4 cup water (about 60mL) and swished as mouthwash. It wasn't sugary sweet tasting like commercial brands but because Cassia is antimicrobial and antiviral it might be an alternative to 'less than natural' commercial types.
