This new batch of organic Holy Basil is a phenomenal specimen! Although more costly than previous lots it is well worth the increase. It is easy to recognize the premium quality of this essential oil, sourced from a new organic distiller. Known as ‘tulsi’ in India, and other Asian locales, Holy Basil is second among all plants in India only to the sacred lotus. Tulsi has been used in Ayurveda dating back thousands of years and continues to be highly regarded for its healing properties. Tulsi is a cherished Hindu ceremonial herb and is also often found in Thai cooking.
Recent studies indicate the high eugenol content in Holy Basil essential oil renders it beneficial as an analgesic. Several other published studies show it to be effective against acne, a stress reliever, cancer metastasis inhibitor, and an effective antifungal with candida. Such documented findings have sparked a host of clinical studies
Aromatically Holy Basil is herbaceous but quite different to other types of Basil with its spicy, slightly minty sweet side. The complexity of aromatic notes brings forth a nuance of licorice naturally rounded out with a smooth, albeit subtle, floral note. This makes Holy Basil particularly interesting for use in natural aromatics. When diffused, alone or in combination with other harmonious essential oils, Holy Basil evokes a sense of calm that may be helpful to some with insomnia or stress issues.
Aromatherapy use: antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, expectorant, fever, insect bites, depression, fatigue, insomnia, migraines, stress
General use: Oil diffusers, potpourri, massage oil, perfume, aromatherapy bath and body blends, soap making, candle making
Contraindications: Not for use during pregnancy, with the elderly, infants, or if epileptic. Possible skin irritant in some individuals; dilute well.
