Aniseed essential oil has a distinct licorice aroma found useful to mask odors. Aniseed can help relieve tension, nervousness, or painful headaches. Diffuse, dilute, or add to a bath to ease tightness and sore, aching muscles. Aniseed essential oil has aromatherapeutic benefits associated with relieving asthma, colds or sinus symptoms, as well as quelling nausea and vomiting. Aniseed essential oil contains anethol, which is an effective anti-viral component. A few drops of aniseed essential oil on a tissue to inhale can be relieving for headaches, digestive problems, nausea and vertigo.
Pro tip: try putting a drop of aniseed essential oil on fishing bait. The licorice aroma of aniseed attracts fish. In fact, many artificial baits already have a small amount of anise in them. Using a drop or two of pure aniseed essential oil applied directly to a lure may help attract fish. It is believed fish can detect human scent on an artificial lure. Fishermen take note, keep a 2% dilution of aniseed essential oil ready to use on hands before baiting lures!
