At Lotus Garden Botanicals we have two types of Turmeric oil, pure essential oil and this Co2 Select extract. The aroma of this Co2 Select extract is smooth and spicy with earthy melon-like nuances.  Either Co2 extract or essential oil may be used in aromatherapy.  For perfumery we recommend our Turmeric essential oil for its crisp ginger-like nuances.

Comprised predominately of sesquinterpenes and ketones, documented benefits of Turmeric Co2 extract and Turmeric essential oil is growing by leaps and bounds in peer reviewed studies and clinical trials.  While the percentage of Tumerones is important ar-Curcumene should not be overlooked.  The primary constituents in this Co2 select extract are a-Turmerone 16.73%, ß-Turmerone 29.61%, Ar-Turmerone, 25.12% Ar-Curcumene 3.98%, ß-Sesquiphellandrene 6.42%, a-Zingiberene 4.70%.

A published review validated with clinical trials by the University of Texas, Department of Chemistry, indicates Turmeric extract and essential oil has many beneficial pharmacological effects which includes, but are not limited with, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, antiangiogenic, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer disease, and antidiabetic activities. Most importantly curcumin possesses immense antitumorigenic effect.”

Contraindications:  Avoid use with small children, elderly, epileptics, pregnant or nursing women.  Use in low dilution, possible skin irritant in high concentration.
