Lotus Garden Botanicals offers two types of Agarwood oil. This Co2 comes from an Agarwood plantation in Assam where Aquilaria agollocha trees are intentionally seeded with ascomycetous mold. For our Agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis) wildcrafted from natural habitat in Thailand click here.

Also known also as Oud, Aloeswood, Agar, Oudh, and Oodh, premium Agarwood oil is the result of the aquilaria tree becoming infected with a type of mold. In normal growth, the heartwood of the aquilaria tree is relatively light, pale colored and barely aromatic; after mold invades the heartwood this tree produces a dark aromatic resin in a defensive response to the parasitical mold attack. The result of this naturally occurring defensive mechanism culminates with very dense, dark, and resin embedded heartwood. The parasitical infection and subsequent decomposition is a very slow process that can take several hundred years in natural habitat.

Whether making perfume, incense, anointing or spiritual blends Agarwood (Oud) imparts a mysterious, luxurious, unique aroma. Agarwood has a precious character that adds a level of opulence to fine perfume accords.
